MARGARET + EMMA ON THE HOMESTEAD | THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS

Margaret and Emma — two little girls, three hens, an overflowing garden, two dogs and two cats, surrounded by lush forest and chirping birds. Wonder and beauty. Can you feel it? That’s the glory of childhood, which does not need to be lost with age. Embarking on beauty takes intentionality, and it comes naturally to these two. 

My mom is one of three girls, and each girl has one daughter. Margaret, Emma, and me. These two girls are the best cousins. We are each others sisters + built in best friends and I’m so grateful. They challenge me to intentionally encounter beauty, stop and smell the roses, activate imagination all over again, and never lose sight of the childhood virtues which Jesus calls us all to uphold. ​Even though they are growing fast, they have not in the least lost the heart of a child. I pray none of us ever will, thank you Jesus! 

I am so inspired and blessed by the homestead / mini farm my aunt, uncle, and cousin Margaret have created together. It is home that is the epitome of love, good stewardship, and creativity from the garden to the kitchen, and there’s always a hint of spunk and spice. Things are never bland or ordinary. The dynamic is affectionate, open, loving, and always seasoned with Salt. I’m thankful they have shared this gift with the entire family; we are all so blessed by it.
