3/22/2024 1 Comment 10 DAYS IN GHANA, WEST AFRICAI recently had the honor and privilege of being a part of a team sent to Ghana, West Africa, to share the name of Jesus. This was an opportunity and trip that I have been praying to be a part of for so long! Now, looking back, I still cannot believe it happened. It doesn't feel real. I often ask, did that really happen?! And it was truly a move of God that it did happen as a few people from the team (myself included) had visas that did not arrive until the very last minute! God made a way, as He always does! The reason for our trip was putting on vacation bible school on for the kids of the Pepease village in North Ghana. Let me tell ya, it was the most impactful experience of my entire life. Those precious kids radiate love and joy, and that very love and joy is SO contagious. It is a love and joy that will mark me forever. Whenever you go on a mission trip, the expectation is to pour out and bless others, but they bless and pour into you. When we went to teach them about Jesus, they taught us about Jesus in so many ways. Their stoke for life is like nothing I've ever seen. While recovering from a season of drought, the Lord continued to heal me in Africa. He showed me that the body of Christ is vibrant and filled with life. He showed me that the way of following Him is a way of abundance and freedom. He showed me that adventure and discovering new culture grows us and transforms us. He showed me that someday, there will no longer be an ocean separating us and the precious Ghanians and that when that day comes, we will be together forever, laughing, dancing, and singing with Jesus, our supplier of joy. Accra is on the coast, and Pepease is in North Ghana. The reason we had 15 hours (or was it 14 hours?) of driving was because we drove in the opposite direction for sightseeing. It was a crazy day and we saw so much but it worth it for the adventure. Moments of the first 48 hours that were not pictured: - Car accident (not our fault) - Me throwing up on the verge of anaphylaxis - Walking up the mountain because the bus couldn't take it anymore - Showers flooding - Bunk bed planks falling on Aubrey's face LOL A peak into the everyday life and culture in Ghana ~ 02. A pitstop in Cape CoastWe traveled west before traveling north east to see Cape Coast and a slave castle, tragic but enlightening. 03. The road from Cape Coast up the mountain into PepeaseThe mountain's aren't pictured, it's really just coconuts. The coast was absolutely beautiful. Once we started driving up the mountains, it was dark! 04. A week spent in PepeaseIt was so fun watching the kids all show up for VBS each day! We ended VBS with the chalk explosion! And we sang Jesus through the village :)
