VERO BEACH LOCATION BREAKDOWN | PALETTE, WARDROBE, + INTENTIONAL STORYTELLING

01. Sandfly Lane

Sandfly Lane is  beautiful, canopied road in the Riomar area. It has a romantic, old world, impressionist feel and makes for a lovely backdrop that suits more editorial work as well as storytelling work. It is also a short walk away from the beach, so we can walk down and shoot there as well. 

Pairs well with: warm and rich neutrals, hunter greens, cream, brown, soft blues, navy blue, mustard yellow, flowy dresses.

02. Your Home

I love shooting in people's homes, capturing them in their element. I can document your day to day, the typical and mundane moments that are still magical and memorable. It is a plus if your home has great natural light!

Pairs well with: Denim, gingham, cozy pants, long dresses, sweaters, clean and bright tones. Consider the color, light, and tone in your home.

03. Outskirts of Sebastian Inlet State Park

Just south of Sebastian Inlet State Park, there are a few beautiful beach accesses and dunes. In late August into early September, these areas are bursting with yellow wildflowers! This may be my favorite location in the area.

Pairs well with: warm and rich neutrals, hunter greens, cream, brown, clean and bright whites, flowy dresses, bathing suits with cover ups, flowy pants.

Something to consider: This spot is directly off of A1A with fast traffic.

04. Round Island

Round Island (on the riverfront side) has a bridge, sunset views, and beautiful pine trees. Just don't forget bug spray!

Pairs well with: Dark, muted reds, navy, hunter green, creams, browns, warm and rich neutrals.

05. Orange Groves

There are so many amazing orange groves out west of town. I typically shoot at Schacht groves, but you may have a family or friend connection to another grove. Orange groves are quintessential of Florida winter, and they also a bursting with orange blossoms in the springtime.

Pairs well with: Clean, bright whites, flows dresses, hunter green, browns, denim, warm and rich neutrals.

A few things to consider: Schacht Groves charges a grove rental fee. For a more cost effective option, I typically rent out the grove every November for a day of mini sessions!

06. Rockier Beaches an Hour South of Vero

About an hour south of Vero, down A1A, there are some beautiful rocky beaches. These include House of Refuge, Chastain Beach, or Bathtub Beach. Chastain beach is my personal favorite!

Pairs well with: Clean and bright whites, soft yellows, soft blues, navy blue, bathing suits and cover ups, bathing suits and ocean dips.

07. Vero, Out West

There are so many pockets out west: fields, land, and cow pastures that make for glowy backdrops. 

Pairs well with: Denim, overalls, clean white, soft blues, muted greens, dresses, browns.

08. St. Sebastian River Preserve State Park

Much like the land out west of Vero, St. Sebastian River Preserve State Park offers a wide range of backdrops: long grass, vast fields, and big trees. 

Pairs well with: Denim, overalls, clean white, soft blues, muted greens, dresses, browns.

09. Sebastian Inlet State Park

Sebastian Inlet State Park has beach access, as well as access to a smaller cove on the river side which is within walking distance from the beach.

Pairs well with: Bright and clean white, off whites or creams, soft blues, navy blues, hunter green, browns, soft yellows, bathing suits and cover ups, bathing suits and jumping in the ocean.

Something to consider: There is a $8 entry fee per vehicle.

10. A Boat

If you have a boat, an adventure photoshoot of boat riding and island hoping is ALWAYS a good idea!

Pairs well with: Reds, navy blue, soft blues, bright and clean whites, bathing suits paired with or without coverups, fashion sunglasses, hats, bandanas.

11. South Beach

South Beach is central and easy to get to and has a wide range of backdrops, from the ocean and sand (of course) to sea grapes, and vast dunes with long grass, palm trees, and wildflowers.

Pairs well with: Clean and bright whites, soft yellows, muted oranges, soft blues, navy blue, bathing suits and cover ups, bathing suits and ocean dips.

12. Treehouse

Treehouse is a lovely wedding venue, and Pam and Jake (the lovely owners) have offered the land for photoshoot use. There are tall oaks, rows of palm trees, lychee trees producing fruit in season, and sometimes, incredible wildflowers. 

Pairs well with: Clean and bright whites, soft greens, soft floral patterns, denim, overalls, flowy dresses, soft yellows.

Something to consider: There is a $45 rental fee for 1 hour of shooting.

13. Fort Pierce Inlet State Park

Fort Pierce Inlet State Park might be my favorite beach in the area. The beach itself is beautiful, but the rocks make for fun photo moments as well. 

Pairs well with: Clean and bright whites, soft yellows, soft blues, navy blue, bathing suits and cover ups, bathing suits and ocean dips. 

Something to consider: There is a $6 entry fee per vehicle.
