THE SPENNER FAMILY | CREEKSIDE DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHY IN WACO, TEXAS

Photography that strives for authenticity, that captures that rawness yet richness of life, that feels original to the people I get to co-create with: The Spenner Family. 

Back in December, I got to meet and photograph the Spenner family in their hometown, Waco, Texas. Kaytlyn and I stayed in touch, it was such an honor to hear that she wanted to work together again to document their life before welcoming their second baby.

I feel like this project was drenched with the sweetness of Jesus. We met at a creek right outside of Waco, a place where they make memories as a family. I offered just enough creative direction for the shoot to flow, but the Spenners did their thing and I was able to sit back and tell the story through my lens. It was slow, peaceful, and intentional. 

Merrit splashed in the water. 

Kaytlyn nursed him on the rocks. 

Christian taught him how to skip stones. 

Our time together and the gallery I created truly embodies the simple beauties of life, the wonder of childhood, the Lord's creation, and the sweet winks He gives us. 

Something also felt prophetic about the clear flowing water, perhaps the theological weight that holds and what that visual can reveal to us about Jesus. 

He is like a tree
planted by streams of water
