Taylor and Matt's wedding weekend, where do I even begin? Let's start at the very beginning. One day, I was sitting on the beach doing some surf photography, when I was approached by this cute couple who had just spent their morning surfing. Immediately, I was struck by their kindness, authenticity, hospitality. We realized how much we had in common, from Florida, to Texas, to California. It felt too good to be true. We exchanged instagram handles, and I would see Taylor at a coffee shop in town from time to time. A few months later, they were engaged (!) and invited me to photograph their wedding weekend on Catalina island. What started as a simple meeting and invitation to photograph their wedding became a beautiful friendship that I am so grateful for. To begin, here are a few scenes from around the island! From there will come more stories from the weekend. Taylor and Matt asked for a videographer recommendation, so I suggested my beautiful friend Gabbi. She is incredibly talented and I knew her niche would be something that Taylor and Matt would love. She joined the team, and we got to camp together on the island and had the best time. These photos are from our adventures walking to and around our campsite. Imagine waking up to these views!?! I feel the luckiest. Welcome DinnerTaylor + Matt's welcome dinner was simple, intimate. and so meaningful. It was a gathering of their immediate family, the same exact group that will be at the wedding the following day. We all know Bailey was the star of the show. In-Between ScenesSomething I loved about this trip was the fact that every morning was a slow morning. For Gabbi and I, it called for reading and journaling as the sun rose. Getting Ready at the Banning HouseTaylor and Matt's family members were all effortlessly iconic! A first look, and then Taylor and Matt took a few moments for the two of them to take it all it as the rest of us walked down to the ceremony spot. CeremonyOne of my favorite parts of the day was Taylor and Matt walking down the mountain, together, to greet their family and begin their ceremony at the bottom. Of course, Bailey was the first to greet them. SendoffAfter their ceremony but before their reception, Taylor and Matt grabbed a pizza, jumped in the ocean, and took a boat cruise. I love how they carved out so many moments for just the two of them, giving their day a sense of slowness and intentionality, fostering the memories they'll cherish the most. Reception + PortraitsThe end!
