I have had a vision for years of photographing a potter at her wheel. Something about it captivates me, the intentional artistry, the originality of each creation, the theological representation it holds, all of it.
I was walking around the local farmer's market and saw Michal Ann selling her ceramics. Instantly, I was inspired by her, her art, and her brand aesthetic. I abruptly asked her, "Can I please take photos of you at your wheel?" She was so gracious and said yes! A few weeks later, she welcomed me into her awesome setup, and I got to document her creative process. It was an absolute joy and she created the most beautiful space for us to work together. In my mother’s womb You formed me with Your hands Known and loved by You Before I took a breath When I doubt it, Lord, remind me I’m wonderfully made You’re an artist and a potter I’m the canvas and the clay You make all things work together For my future and for my good You make all things work together For Your glory and for Your name There’s a healing light Just beyond the clouds Though I’ve walked through fire I see clearly now I know nothing has been wasted No failure or mistake You’re an artist and a potter I’m the canvas and the clay You make all things work together For my future and for my good You make all things work together For Your glory and for Your name — @patbarrett The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: “Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will let you hear my words.” So I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was working at his wheel. And the vessel he was making of clay was spoiled in the potter’s hand, and he reworked it into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to do. Then the word of the Lord came to me: “O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter has done? declares the Lord. Behold, like the clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel. — Jeremiah 18:1-6
