ITALY ON 35MM FILM | FLORENCE, CINQUE TERRE, + LAKE COMO

After our journey through Switzerland, we spent the following nine days in Italy. It was amazing. We began with Florence, which was such a dreamy city. We felt free to explore wherever and be spontaneous. A staple was gelato after dinner (or after every meal). After, we were supposed to head up to the Dolomites, but after finding out a rental car was a must and having limited options, we rerouted to Cinque Terre in three days notice. While I would have loved to hike the Dolomites, I am so happy we ended up in Cinque Terre. We stayed in La Spezzia, which is the main accessible city near the five villages. We took two day trips, one to Porto Venere and one to Vernazza. It felt like a movie, casually jumping into the Mediterranean Sea, swimming into a cave, jumping off of rocks, and of course grabbing gelato before hopping on the train back. Our last stop was Como. Our time in Como was so sweet and restful. Looking back, I would do things differently after realizing so much of the charm is found in the smaller villages along the Lake. However, what we had was perfect and exactly what we needed after the (not pictured) train strikes and constantly getting lost (haha). Our time in Como held no plans, just a continual drizzle, so our time there looked like strolling through the rain and enjoying the simple delights.
