CAMERON AND HER BOYS | SURFING, MOTHERHOOD, AND VISUAL STORYTELLING IN SAN CLEMENTE, CALIFORNIA

While spending time with Cameron and her boys, watching them spend a typical day in their life surfing, playing, and soaking up the sun, I thought to myself, "These kids are going to have the coolest stories to tell when they grow up." 

We met at their favorite beach, San Onofre. As they spent the morning making memories, I simply took a step back to observe and capture these future stories unfold.

One of the many beautiful things about photography is that photographs tell stories. Likely, when these boys are grown, they will use photos, maybe even these photos in particular, to bring the stories they tell from their childhood to life.

Storytelling cultivates culture, builds bonds between families and friends, and brings forth truth, goodness, and beauty. We often picture stories being told orally, perhaps around a table. However, storytelling is not limited to the dinner table, or in Cameron and her boys' case, the in between moments in a wave lineup. Why would we not incorporate the element of visual beauty for our storytelling, in this case, photographs?
